Summer cards for Pink Paislee

Thursday, June 28, 2018

Hey friends,
it's Lisa back on the blog. This week is all about Summer and I created two beautiful and fun cards for you. If you want to surprise someone and take them to the beach for the weekend or spend a whole week under the palm trees, these are just perfect for you.Cards don't always have to be 2-dimensional. Why not create a pop-up card the beautiful @pinkpaislee collections. See how @lisafonseca1985 created two summer cards using the #summerlights and #turnthepage collections.
I started by choosing a cutfile to make this pop-up cards. I cut out everything on white paper and used the pieces as a stencil to create the same pieces out of patterned paper. I didn't let the machine cut them right out of the patterned paper, because I wanted to figure out exactly which papers I wanted to use for each piece and I felt more comfortable doing it that way.
So, I cut the different pieces out of patterned paper by hand and put everything together. Then I chose some ephemera pieces and stickers that I used for the middle part of the box. I had three strips on which I could attach them. Then I decorated the rest of the cards using ephemera pieces, chipboard stickers, cardstock stickers and fussy-cut elements.

You can fold the card together and fit it in an envelope and when you push the sides together it becomes 3D and pops open.

To make the cards more whimsical, I attached some butterflies and paper planes on a piece of wire and attached the wires to the box, giving the illusion as if they were flying. For this first card I used the Turn the Page collection. For the second card, I mainly used the Summer Lights collection.

I really love how these turned out.

Embrace all good vibes layout for PINK AND PAPER

Sunday, June 24, 2018

Hi friends, it's Lisa on the blog today.

I'm sharing another layout I made with the dreamy Hawthorne collection by Heidi Swapp.

To start I used the inner parts of the cutfile flowers I used in the first layout I made with this collection. I thought they could be used to make new flowers. So I used these pieces of paper and adhered them on pink cardstock. Then I cute the flowers out and stitched over them with purple thread.

As a background I used the black and white patterned paper. I had a second sheet of this paper. I cut off a stripe of that one and adhered it to my page with the stripes going in the opposite direction.

Then I stitched around the whole page with that same purple thread.
I cut out all the big flowers from the patterned papers and placed them on my layout. Then I placed the stitched ones, I created before, on the page too, creating kind of a diagonal design.

I chose a picture I took on my last vacation. I matted it on patterned paper and rounded the corners. Then I placed it on the page, in between all the flowers.

As a title I used four words from the double sided foam stickers. I coated them with glitter, creating an ombre effect.

I also used a big flower, I created some weeks before for another assignment. I still had the flower lying on my desk and I thought that it would fit perfectly. To make that flower, I used papers from Dear Lizzy collections.

I finished the layout by adding some of the clear stickers and pieces of ephemera and by adding gold splatters all around.

I really hope you like it. I had to step out of my comfort zone with these colors, but I think that I did pretty good.

Thank you
Lisa

Live Life in Different Colors layout for Pink Paislee

Friday, June 22, 2018

Hi friends,
this week is all about Summer... I don't know about you, but I've waited impatiently for summer... We've had a really long and cold winter in Luxembourg and now it's finally warm and I can wear my favorite dresses...:)
This is the layout I created
Live life 1
Maybe it doesn't look like it, but it took me almost 4 hours to make this layout... For this project, I used 6x6 paper pads from Pick.me-upConfetti WishesTurn the pageSummer Lights and Wild Child.
To start I took a white 12x12 sheet of paper. I drew these paisley kind of shapes and patterns... drops, hearts, circles... I only filled two sides of the paper, so half of the sheet. When I was happy with how it looked, I started by cutting out the first big shape with my exacto knife. I used the shape to create two identical pieces out of patterned paper. Then I placed my "stencil" on a new sheet of white paper, I placed one of the patterned paper pieces, in the whole, then I turned the stencil around and placed the second piece in the whole. To make the shape stand out, I used foam squares.
Live life 2
I proceeded to the second shape. Cut out, use it as a guide two create two pieces out of patterned paper and place them on my page, using the stencil to find the right placement.

I did this for every little piece, except the circles. When I was done, I used watercolors to paint the circles.
For my title, I used chipboard stickers from Summer Lights and Wild child and foam thickers from Pick-me-up. I don't know if it makes sense, but I have a t-shirt that says 'Live life in different colors' and I thought this was very cool, so I changed it a bit for this layout and wrote 'Live summer in different colors'. :)
Live life 4
I matted my photo on some pieces of patterned paper and placed it on the bottom left corner of the page.
Live life 3
Then I used ephemera piecescardstock stickers and puffy stickers from Wild Child and some flower stickers from the Paige Evans sticker book.
A few green and pink splatters finished the page.
I really like how it turned out. This was in fact my second layout for this assignment, I wasn't really happy with the first one I made, haha, typical! This one I love... It screams summer and is so colorful and happy.

Worry less, live more layout for PINK AND PAPER

Friday, June 15, 2018

Hi friends,

it's me back on the blog today :)

This month I'm working with Heidi Swapp's Hawthorne collection. I'm not really used to use such dark colors in my layouts, so I was a little bit scared to use it, but I managed to include light elements and it turned out really cool.

I wanted to use the Heidi Swapp flower art screen for this layout. I tried it on white paper first.

When I was sure how it worked, I used one of the patterned papers as a background and some pink acrylic paint. Little tip: don't use it with any kinds of paste, the paste is too thick and won't go through the screen. Also it will be impossible to clean after... Use acrylic paint! :)

When the flowers were dry, I cut them out and placed them on a second page of that same patterned paper I used before.

I machine-stitched all around the layout with white thread. Then I hand-stitched some stars on white paper, cut them out and scattered them on my page. I also used some ephemera pieces and clear stickers from the collection.

I chose a picture from my last vacation. I cut myself out and placed the photo on some of the roses. I placed one of the stars in my hand as if was reaching for it. I never did this before and I really like how it turned out :)

For my title, I used the foam words. These stickers are sticky on both sides, so you can put glitter or metallic flakes on them.

I placed the title beneath the picture.

To finish my layout, I choose some flower cutfiles, let my silhouette cut them out and placed them on the edges of the layout to brighten it up even more.

I really hope you like what I made.

Grateful today layout for Pink Paislee

Sunday, June 10, 2018

Hi dear friends,
this week we're sharing new techniques that we tried out. I was a bit lost at first, because I already tried out so many different things that I couldn't immediately think of something new.
After a lot of thinking, I got the idea of making origami  pieces. I made origami stars once when I saw a layout that Paige created making those stars, but I never tried butterflies. So I looked up origami butterflies on YouTube and tried them. They turned out really cute!

So I made some butterflies in three different sizes, using the Pick-me-up collection. But I wanted them to have more detail, so I stitched them through the middle and also on the white part (the backside of the paper). My stitching machine gave up when I still had 2 or 3 butterflies to stitch, so a few of them aren't stitched. I don't mind though, it gives the page a bit of diversity. I placed one or a few sequins, from the Auburn Lane collection, on each butterfly.

I placed the butterflies on my page, that I had already trimmed the edges off and adhered to a patterned paper from the collection, creating a boarder.

Then I matted the photo on some pieces of paper and placed it on the bottom right side of the page.

As a title I used two chipboard stickers saying: 'grateful together'. I used some flowers from the ephemera pack to decorate around the photo. and in some corners of the layout.

I splattered gold, blue and pink color spray all around the page and finished it off by scattering the little rub-on crosses on the page.
When I took the first pictures of the layout and edited them on my phone, I saw that the white part of the butterflies where too white and getting lost in the background. So I took my watercolors and put some color on all the butterflies. It turned out a lot better. :)
