Whimsical mood layout for PINK PAISLEE

Thursday, December 27, 2018

Hi scrappy friends, today I'm sharing one of my favorite layouts I ever made for Pink Paislee. When I look at it, it makes me so happy... ;)
Those very tiny and so cute 2x2 paper pads from the @paigetaylorevans @pinkapaislee collections are just perfect for grid designs. And since those kind of designs are @lisafonseca1985’s favorite, she had to scraplift herself and use them on this layout to create a very colorful grid design. #pinkpaislee #paigeevans #griddesign
When I sat at my desk to start a new layout, I had no idea what was going ti happen. Usually I have an idea or a cutfile I want to use, but here, I had nothing at all. So I just sat down and went through all the Whimsical stuff hoping that something would catch my eye and give me a fun idea. And it did...
I decided to use the 2x2 paper pads in a grid design. It's not really a new idea, so in some way, I scraplifted myself in this layout, because I already made a layout like this with the Turn the Page collection and the Pick-me-up collection.

But this time, I wanted to create a rainbow design with the colors of the papers. So first, I went through the 2x2 paper pads and chose all the ones I thought I could use. I arranged them on my desk to see how many squares of what colors were missing. Then I went through my patterned papers and cut little squares from different colors.
When I had my 25 squares arranged and ready, I distressed all the edges with my scissors. Then I chose 2 squares of each row and sewed the borders on half of them and some zig-zags on the other half.

Then I adhered all the squares, using thick foam squares to make all of them pop off the page. Of course, I had to have my border around the page and for that I used the hexagon paper.

I fussy-cut a bunch of flowers from the beautiful floral paper, used some ephemera florals and also some stickers and created flower clusters on each row, matching the colors. I also added a matching cloud to every row, some hearts and word stickers.
When I started the layout and had all my squares stuck down, I really wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but at this point, I was like: Oh, yes!!! :)

The final touch that made me REALLY love the layout was the title. I didn't want to use the chipboard thickers from the collection because I thought they would break the structured style of this layout and the mini foam thickers were too small on their own. So I decided to hand-cut my own letters to write a title. I couldn't adhere them to the squares as is though, because they wouldn't have popped out the page. So I attached them to some white scrap of paper first and cut out around them, leaving a white border. Then I placed my title below the picture. Some white splatters later, I was done! :)

Altenew: A Year In Review Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hey friends,

today I have a very special blog post for you, as I am participating in the

Altenew A YEAR IN REVIEW Blog Hop!! :)

Many super talented artists have joined with Altenew to show you their favorite 2018 projects. I'm so excited I was asked to join and present to you my four favorite layouts I made, using Altenew dies and stamps. Make sure to read to the end to get the details on how you can participate in the giveaway!! :)

So here we go:

I made this layout for the Pink Paislee Design Team. I used the Rose Flurries dies set.

I used the dies to make these wonderful little roses and leaves. I used patterned papers to make them and I think it turned out really cute and whimsical.

Then I have this layout, I made for the Altenew October release.

With the Floral Elements dies, you can create three different abstract flowers, some leaves and some other small elements. I used this set to create my flowers and leaves and scattered them all over my page, making little clusters. I really love how you can totally customize your embellishments and make as many as you want to.

Then I have this layout, I created for Altenew. Here I used the Playful Blooms stamps and dies duo. First you stamp the flowers in the colors that you like, then you have matching dies to make the cutting easier and faster.

I made this mexican-inspired layout, creating a lot of stamped flowers, die-cutting them and building a frame all around the page.

Finally, I want to share this layout,

Here I used the Brilliant Baubles stamps and dies. They are used in the same way as the flowers in the project above, where you first stamp and layer the colors and then die-cut the shapes with the matching dies.

I created a Christmas layout, making some colorful baubles and hanging them on the reindeer's antlers.

I hope I could inspire you with my layouts and show you some ways how you can use the amazing Altenew stamps and dies :)

Pretty in flowers layout for PINK PAISLEE

Saturday, December 22, 2018

Hi lovelies,
I'm back on the blog sharing this fun layout with you.
There is no better way to create an amazing layout, than to use the speciality paper from the #whimsical collection by @paigetaylorevans @pinkpaislee and put tons of colors behind those beautiful cut-out flowers. @lisafonseca fussy-cut all the flowers from the paper and created her own bouquet in this fun and bright layout.
When we got all the products from the Whimsical collection, this speciality paper immediately caught my eye. I love that it was included in the collection, since it was very different from what we usually get and since it was so interesting to try to figure out how to use it.
Of course, you can use it as is and there are a lot of people who did this and the layouts turned out beautifully, but in my head, I already had the idea to cut up the flowers and try to create my own bouquet.

So to start, I chose a colorful paper from the collection that I would use to back the speciality sheet. With that paper, all the parts would have different colors without me having to chose different papers and backing every piece on its own. When everything was adhered, I cut out all the pieces leaving a thick border.

When I had all my pieces, I wanted to add some details. So I went into my stash of thread and stitched through the middle of the leaves and did a bunch of little french knots in the middle of the flowers. I think that this turned out so cute and it added so much to those flowers and leaves.
As a background, I chose this suuuuper adorable mini heart paper. This was my favorite paper from the beginning and I absolutely wanted to use it as a background, it's so pretty!!

I chose a picture I took in vacation last June, matted it with some scraps of patterned paper and placed it on the layout. Then I gathered all the flowers and leaves between the bottom right side of the page and the picture.

As a title, I used an ephemera piece and the thickers from the collection. Then I splattered some gold color shine and I was done! :)

Create, craft, repeat layout for PINK PAISLEE

Sunday, December 9, 2018

Hi scrappy friends,
it's Lisa back on the blog today and I'm sharing this super cute unicorn layout, that I've been so impatient to share.
Who doesn’t like unicorns? Right… nobody!!  See how lisafonseca1985 uses this super cute unicorn cutfile with the perfect matching @paigetaylorevans @pinkpaislee Whimsical collection. #unicorn #pinkpaislee #paigeevans
I've been wanting to use those tiny brushes and color tubes and scissors since I got the Whimsical collection. But I'd never had the right idea until now.
I'm a kindergarten teacher and at the beginning of the year, I bought some clipart that had all those cute little unicorns with different school materials. It also had this one that's holding a palette and a brush. When I was preparing class stuff I remembered it and thought that it would be perfect to use as a cutfile. In fact, the lines of the drawing are so thick that it makes a perfect cutfile and I was so happy when I saw the result :)

So to start, I backed my cutfile as usual, using unicorn-matching colored papers from the Whimsical collection and this adorable blue and gold grid design paper from the Oh my Heart collection. It was so fun backing the unicorn's shirt with it because it looks very fancy in it :) I also added some details with a white pen, like little dots and reflections on its eyes.

When the unicorn was ready, I prepped my white 12x12 paper with splotches and splatters of yellow and pink paint. Then I added the unicorn. Next to it, I adhered my picture. I used a picture my boyfriend took just moments earlier, of me creating the unicorn :) I matted it with scraps of the same papers I used for backing the cutfile.

I cut off the edges of the entire page and adhered it to a the colorful hexagon patterned paper so that it would create a colorful border. I also stitched all around the edges.

As a title, I used a chipboard sticker and both kind of thickers from the Whimsical collection.
Then I went through all the embellishments to find all the little items that would match. There are chipboard stickers, cardstock stickers, puffy stickers and enamel shapes. To put a final touch to the layout, I splattered some gold color shine.

Christmas projects featuring DCWV products

Wednesday, December 5, 2018

Hi scrappy friends,

today I'm sharing a super cute Christmas project and a Christmas layout I made using some wonderful DCWV products. I had the chance to have been sent the Magical Holiday 12x12 Paper stack and the Very Merry project trees from DCWV which you can get at Joann stores :)

Using the pastel paper stack, I created a fun and wintery layout.

I started with two cutfiles, this cute bear from 2Cute Ink and this snowflake cutfile by Paige Evans (Design: 238513). To back the bear cutfile, I used a bunch of papers from the paper stack. Those cute, bright and pastel colors make for a fresh and wintery look and I love to use non-traditional colors for my Christmas projects. :)

I did a bit of mixed media on my white 12x12 paper sheet and then placed the snowflake cutfile and my finished bear, which I had  hand-stitched with white thread, on my layout.

I embellished a bit more with some stickers included in the paper stack and some enamel dots, sequins and thickers from my stash.

For my second project, I used the Very Merry Trees pack. It includes 15 sheets of green metallic paper with which you can build christmas trees. Depending on how many layers you use, you trees get bigger or smaller.

I built 2 big trees and 3 smaller ones.

When I was finished building them, I spray-painted them pink and mint.
I used a long vase I had bought a few years ago, placed a piece of styrofoam in it, then stuck my trees in it.
I used mini pompoms, sequins, gold glitter star stickers and little puffy stars to decorate them.

Then I used some cotton wool to place around the trees to make it look like snow and hide the styrofoam beneath them.

I used thickers to write Merry Christmas on the vase (and yes... I wrote Merry Cristmas.... grrrr... but I was too lazy to stage everything again and take new pictures... ;)

I also put mini LED lights into the cotton, it's just very difficult/impossible to see on the pictures. To finish my little arrangement, I sprinkled some stars and glitter on the "snow".

I hope you like it and are inspired to make your own Christmas projects with DCWV products :)

Have a beautiful week, see you soon :)
