Cute squirrel Christmas cards for PINK PAISLEE

Saturday, December 21, 2019

Hey friends,
it's Lisa and today, just a few days before Christmas, I'm sharing these adorable Christmas cards I made, using the dreamy Together for Christmas collection.
Who doesn’t know and love those funny little squirrels who made us all laugh…? @lisafonseca1985 used them on her cards to wish you a Merry Christmas and to show you how wonderful and cute the new @pinkpaislee collection Together for Christmas is. Have fun creating with it! #pinkpaislee #lisafonseca #christmas #cards #scrapbooking
For my cards today, I created these two little, super cute, (and famous) squirrels. I drew them on white cardstock, cut the pieces out, traced around them on different patterned papers and then assembled the pieces and adhered them on white paper. I stitched around them with a back-stitch, using matching thread. Then I cut them out, leaving a white border.

For the first card, I used a pretty green patterned paper, I cut out a square piece and adhered it to a dark blue patterned paper that was slightly bigger, so that I would have a frame. Then I used the stamps from the collection. There are a few different snowflake stamps and I used one of the smallest ones. I wanted some gold snowflakes and created them by embossing. Then I placed my first little squirrel on the card and added the embellishments to see where I wanted them.

I used fussy-cut flowers and leaves, snowflake stickers and star stickers. When I had everything how I liked it, I started adhering everything, creating dimension with foam squares. As a final touch, I added the sentiment, which is a cardstock sticker and I also added a small mistletoe sticker on the squirrel's head. :)

For my second card, I used this beautiful wood grain patterned paper that I adhered to a pretty floral one. I also wanted to add snowflakes. This time, I used the biggest snowflake stamp and white embossing powder. The white really stands out on the dark wood grain... it looks amazing!

Then I also added some snowflake and star stickers and a few punched polka dots from red glitter paper. I adhered my squirrel and only needed to add a sentiment. I used the word "celebrate" from the gold epoxy sticker sheet. I adhered it to a pinkish patterned paper and cut it out leaving a border. I think it looks so cool...

I hope you like them and I wish you all MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :)

Hi there,
it's me back on the Pink Paislee blog to share a new Christmas layout.
You don’t necessarily need to use a Christmas collection to make a Christmas layout… @lisafonseca1985 used the brand new @pinkpaislee collection Lucky Us, to create this pretty and colorful holiday layout with a cutfile. #pinkpaislee #lisafonseca #christmas #layout #scrapbooking
I love Christmas scrapbooking collections and I really enjoy using them... but sometimes I just want to create something christmassy with other collections. Collections that aren't at all Christmas-themed and that don't have the traditional Christmas colors. So on this layout, I used the new Lucky Us collection, which in fact, is a Valentine's collection. Couldn't tell? Well, you can use any collection, you just need to use the right colors ;)
Here, I gathered the pink and red patterned papers and added some green ones from other collections.

I started with the background of my layout. I cut off the edges of my white paper and adhered it to a red paper from the Lucky Us collection, to create a red frame. Then I stitched all around it with green thread.

The mixed media part was very easy. I didn't even use gesso. I sprayed some water all around the page, smooshed my gelatos on some plastic packaging, added water and let it drip onto the paper. I did this with a light green, a darker green and a pink gelato. Then I let it dry and added some gold splatters.

While it was drying completely, I backed my cutfile. I used a cutfile by Paige Evans that's called Christmas Frame (307646). I backed it completely with my patterned papers but as I love to do lately, I didn't glue the pieces exactly straight behind the cutfile, I adhered them a bit off, so that they would peak out from the sides. I love that effect.

When I was done, I used foam squares to adhere the cutfile to the background.
For my photo, I used one from the same day as on my last layout, but this time it's in color and it matches the colors of the papers perfectly. I matted it on some scraps of paper and adhered it on the left side of the layout.

For my title, I used the stickers from the Lucky Us collection and a cardstock sticker. I embellished some more, using foam hearts.

I really love how it turned out, the cutfile and colors are just the cutest. I hope you are inspired to create a Christmas layout using a non-Christmas collection. :)
See you soon,

Mini album for PINK PAISLEE

Friday, December 13, 2019

Hey friends,
it's Lisa back on the blog.
A few weeks ago, I taught a workshop in Rome, where I created a mini album with the Paige Evans Truly Grateful collection. People really liked it and I had a lot of fun creating it with them. :)
For the workshop she attented to a few weeks ago in Rome, @lisafonseca1985 created this super cute stitched mini album, using the @paigetaylorevans Truly Grateful collection by @pinkpaislee and including a lot of paper beads and a hand-cut big flower. #pinkpaislee #minialbum #lisafonseca #trulygrateful #scrapbooking
The base of the album is made out of cardboard, to make it sturdy and to make it last forever :)
I used two 11x11 cm pieces of cardstock and one 4x11 cm piece. I adhered them on patterned paper like this.Bildschirmfoto 2019-12-04 um 20.53.46Then I snipped the four edges and folded the excess patterned paper over the cardstock, using a very strong sticky tape. To hide the cardstock that was still visible, I used another piece of patterned paper, around 22x26 cm and adhered it on top of the cardstock. Like that, the cardstock was fully hidden by patterned paper. I folded the two sides (the 11x11 pieces), to close the album and create a cover and a back.

For the inside, I cut six 11x22cm pieces of patterned papers and folded them in the middle to create my pages. I pierced them in the fold, at 1cm, 3,5cm, 7,5cm and 10cm. I also pierced the side of the album at the same lengths, leaving around 6mm between each row.

Then I starting making my paper beads. For the beads, you only need to cut out a veeeeeery long, veeeeery thin triangle of paper. You roll it, starting from the wider side and when you reach the pointy end, you glue it down. That's it :) For the album, I needed 14 beads.
When I had my base, my paper beads and my pages ready, I started stitching everything together. For each page, I started on the inside of the album, piercing the needle through the page and the back of the album and doing a simple backstitch. Then I tied a knot on the inside of the album. While I was stitching, I added the beads and the sequins, each time I came back out with the needle. I hope you can understand what I mean... :)

The big flower on the cover, I created by hand-cutting three flowers out of patterned papers and adding three more, that I cut out from the floral paper. I made a cute puffy center, by taking a 2x2cm circle and folding the edges to the center all around until I had a little puffy polka dot.

I also created a little tassel with my leftover beads and a little mini tassel I made.
The inside pages, I decorated very little and minimal, so that the participants could also add stuff they liked and make it more personal. Here are some of them.

Christmas cards using cutfiles for the HIP KIT CLUB

Sunday, December 8, 2019

Hey friends,

it's Lisa back on the blog and today I'm sharing some cute holiday cards with you.
The assignment for this week was to use cutfiles on our projects. I needed to make cards and when I saw these cute cutfiles by Kim Watson, I knew I wanted to use them. :)

So to start, I let my silhouette cut out the cutfiles. A bird, a penguin and a mouse in a sock. I backed them with the patterned papers from theMain Kitand Paper Kit, using mainly reds, blues and pinks. The cutfiles all had very different shapes, so I decided to make three different shaped cards. A square one, a rectangular one, in a horizontal way and a rectangular one, in a vertical way.

Then I chose the papers that I wanted to use as my base, which wasn't very easy, because there are a lot of busy patterned papers in the kit. So I went with a plain red cardstock, the grey woodgrain one and a red tartan one. The red tartan was a bit to busy too, so I decided to put a layer of vellum on top, to tone it down a bit and make the bird stand out more.

I stitched a zig-zag all-around the borders on the three cards, I adhered my backed cutfiles with foam tape and then I started embellishing.
On the mouse cards, I used the white snowflakes and stars from the exclusive watercolor die cuts (Color Kit). I also used some dot stickers from the Build-an-Ornament Sticker Sheet and an exclusive wood veneer mistletoe piece, as well as a mistletoe ephemera. For the sentiment, I used a sticker from the Cardstock Sticker Sheet and some letters from the Puffy Word Stickers. (Embellishment kit).

For the penguin card, I used a lot of ephemera flowers from the Floral Ephemera Pack (Embellishment Kit), I also used the same two little mistletoe pieces as before,  and for my title, I used some puffy word stickers again. That puffy word sticker sheet is just amazing and has so many sentiments and titles ready to use. So cute :)

For the bird card, I used some stars from the Watercolor Die-cuts again (Color Kit) and I also used some baubles from the Build-an-Ornament Sticker Sheet (Embellishment kit). For the sentiment, I used some letters from the Puffy Shape Stickers (Pocket Life Kit) and again, the puffy word stickers. I added the two mistletoe pieces again, to create a binding element between the three cards.

I really hope you like them and hope you are inspired too, to create cards with cutfiles :)

See you!

Christmas pajamas layout for PINK PAISLEE

Friday, December 6, 2019

Hey scrappy friends,
it's Lisa back on the blog and today I'm sharing this super duper cute layout I made using the beautiful new Christmas collection called Together for Christmas.
Have you already created your first Christmas layouts for this year? Well, don’t forget to use the wonderful and beautiful new collection by @pinkpaislee called Together for Christmas. @lisafonseca1985 used it to create this super fun layout where she made a paper-pieced Santa in pink socks! #pinkpaislee #lisafonseca #christmas #layout #scrapbooking
I could stare at this cute little Santa for hours, he's just so fun! :)
So to start this layout, I used an aqua patterned paper from the collection. The paper has little white spots all over that look like snow. I like that kind of color combined with red. I used gesso on my paper to lighten it up and also to protect it from the mixed media that I wanted to do. I smooshed the gesso in the center of the paper using a baby wipe. I like to do that because that way, you don't have any sharp edges from the color. When the gesso was dry, I used some pink spray to get some color on my paper and then I splattered some white and gold all over the page.

This collection doesn't have any pink in it but I absolutely wanted to include some. So I added the pink to make it more my style and brighten it up.
Then I started creating my cute little Santa. I drew him on white paper, cut out the pieces, traced them on different patterned papers, cut them out and assembled and glued them on some white scrap paper. All the papers I used are from the Together for Christmas collection, except the pink one. Then I poked holes all around the parts that I wanted to stitch and then I stitched all the white parts. To finish, I cut him out, leaving a thin white border.

I placed the little guy on the layout, using foam squares, and beside him, I added my picture. My picture is from last Christmas, where me and my sis were wearing the same Grinch pajamas. I matted it on some scraps of paper and placed it next to Santa.

Then I started fussy cutting! I used one of the patterned papers that is full of flowers and leaves and I cut out almost everything. I then added some flowers and some leaves on the layout. I think the layout looks so cool with all the flowers... I love using flowers on my layouts :)

I think Santa looks adorable with his pink tights...  ;) To decorate the layout even more, I used some puffy stickers, acetate snowflakes and star stickers. For my title, I used a gold epoxy word saying "Christmas" and some of the brown thickers to write "pajamas". I also gave Santa a tree underneath his arm. It came in the ephemera pack.

I hope you like how it turned out. I really do like it and hope I could inspire you.
See you very soon!
