What a fun new collection to work with!!!
I was so pleased when I saw the new Doodlebug collection. I have many theme park photos that I want to scrap and this collection is just perfect for it! :)
So for my very first layout with FUN AT THE PARK, I wanted to scrap some photos I took two years ago, when I visited Disneyworld in Orlando. I had this cool photo of myself, dressed in black and red with the castle in the background and I thought that it was, of course, just perfect for this collection.
So I wanted to make a Mickey head, because I'm wearing Minnie ears on the photo. I started by drawing half of the shape on a white sheet of paper. Then I folded the paper and cut it out, so that the shape of the head would be symmetrical. I traced it on four different patterned papers from the collection, cut them out and then cut out the inner part, so that the shapes would only be frames of around 1cm thickness. Then I took them to my sewing machine and sewed around them with matching colors and using a gold thread for the black head.
For my background, I used blue gelatos and a baby wipe to create this hazy and soft base for my mickey head. I also added blue and gold splatters. When that was completely dry, I started adding my shapes. I adhered the black and blue ones using liquid glue and putting them directly onto the paper. Then I added the yellow and the red ones, using foam squares.
I matted my photos on a white with polka dots patterned paper and adhered them to the layout first thing, to be able to see exactly where I had the space to put my embellishments. I went through the die-cuts and the stickers and chose popcorn, birds, a coke bottle, ice cream, a Minnie bow, a sun, a camera, a palm tree... to add to the frame.
I also used a castle to put on the inside of the frame. It matched my photos so well :)
Then I created my title, using a Chit Chat die-cut and some alpha stickers in black and red.
To finish this layout, I added stars, enamel dots and jewels all around the Mickey head frame and then I also added some tangled thread in three places.
I hope you like the layout and are excited to start working with this super fun collection. I LOVE it... even though there's no pink in it and that means A LOT!!! :)
Thank you so much for stopping by and see you soon!
